Shortcut Classic Mojito Cocktail

This simple classic mojitos is special for at least two reasons: it provides a shortcut for muddling the mint leaves that loses none of the freshness, and includes a couple dashes of Angostura bitters to add depth flavor that will make this recipe your favorite version of all time.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces mint simple syrup Make your own, or purchase it.
  • 2 ounces white rum * see the Ingredient Notes in the post.
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces club soda
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters (optional, but worth it!)
  • mint sprig for garnish
  • lime slices for extra lime, if needed

Instructions

  • Fill a tall glass with ice. A Tom Collins glass is perfect for this cocktail.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the mint syrup, rum, lime juice, and a few ice cubes. Shake it like crazy, and strain into the glass.
  • Stir in a couple dashes of Angostura bitters, add the mint spring, and serve with lime slices.
