    The Basics

This category of Basics covers a variety of ingredients you can make to use in a wide range of recipes.

    How to Cook Dried Beans

The first section of Basics is all about dried beans. I rarely purchase canned, but will sometimes pick up a bag of frozen.

The best way to have beans, though, is to cook them from a dried form. The flavor is better and you have a much wider variety of beans then to choose from.

How to Cook Chickpeas on the Stovetop, by the way, is my #1 most popular post every year.

    How to Cook Grains

The below links are for cooking rice, including 3 ways to cook risotto - on the stovetop, in the slow cooker, and in an electric pressure cooker.

Even though quinoa is technically a seed, I've included how to cook a perfect bowl of quinoa in this section of Basics.
