Gathering: an assembly or meeting, especially a social or festive one, or one held for a specific purpose. โ€“Google dictionary

Gathering: a coming together of family and friends to celebrate a special occasion and toast the bonds of friendship with Gallo wine. โ€“The Wimpy Vegetarian

Halloween for me is the (un)official kickoff for the fall gathering season that leads to winter. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanza are next, culminating in New Years and a major exhalation onto a sofa with a good book.

I love getting friends together for a Halloween potluck (sans costumes since I can NEVER think of a good costume). Something casual, almost last-minute, but full of fun. Sometimes these are the best parties of all. If you decide to have your own Halloween gathering of friends (with or without costumes), here are some fun entertaining ideasย from the folks at Gallo Family Vineyards.

How to make mummy calzones, vegetarian.

This year, Iโ€™m making this mummy calzone. The tomato sauce usesย GFV Merlot wineย and can be make a week ahead. Just keep it in the refrigerator until you need it, or freeze it for up to 6 months. You can make your own pizza crust, or buy it at your local store. But donโ€™t forget to pick up some Gallo wine using this handyย store locator. And hereโ€™s aย $1-off couponย to take with you!
